Transgender Day Of Remembrance

The Transgender Day of Remembrance (or TDOR) is an annual vigil held on November 20th and serves to honor the transgender people we have lost to anti-transgender violence, shed light on the cases that remain unsolved, and finally raise awareness to the fatal violence that disproportionately effects transgender people – specifically black transgender women.

This workshop includes a moment of silence, education on the history of TDOR, celebration of LGBTQIA2S+ advocates and activists, and includes a discussion on the importance of allyship for the LGBTQIA2S+ community. After this workshop, everyone should leave with:

  • A baseline understanding of the Transgender Day of Remembrance
  • An understanding of the importance of allyship and advocacy
  • Actionable steps to show up in allyship for the LGBTQIA2S+ community, and especially queer and trans folks
